SMM-CD Team Meetings:

1. Teleconference call Wednesday May 22 @ 3 pm Geneva Time

Agenda:

1. Review of the WMO Catalogue for Climate Data website layout. (Christina/Federico/Peter/Team) (Please note invited guests: Federico Galati, WMO Webmaster, and Peter Siegmund, KNMI, in charge of the website development)
  • The WMO Catalogue for Climate Data now live on a temporary url: http://climatedata-catalogue.wmo.int/new/ (please note that the content of some of the page are still being worked on)
  • Results of the UX Users Experience Analysis:
    • Assessed datasets + climate indicators page: The spacing above the title combined with the introductory text push the key content almost below the fold (13,3-inch screen with resolution = 2560 x 1600). The buttons should be a bit more visible above the fold. Especially the climate indicators. Ideally it would be nice to see all the buttons and some content of the active button above the fold. Could you show only 2 lines of intro text with a "more" link to expand the full introduction?
    • Assessed datasets page: We cannot scan the datasets information without clicking on each of the buttons. Users may be annoyed by it. We may provide a link to expand all.
    • Climate indicators page: When I click an indicator some graphs or maps display. It looks like we can only look at them. Can we download them for use? Can we download the data used to build them? Can these be embedded in any other page external or internal? A small thing: the arrow in the blue circle at the bottom right corner is not visible; it is not apparent that it is a back to top link.
    • Documentation page: It seems this design of this page is not consistent with the other pages.

2. Upcoming WMO Congress and the HQ-GDMFC Manual Draft Resolution (Omar)
3. Review of assessed dataset evaluations: (Christina/Omar/Team) (evaluations on wiki site)

  • GLOSS (Lead: Omar)
  • CCI Sea Level (Lead: Reinaldo)
  • Sea Ice Index (Lead: Christina)
